RE: '08 D/A...do you like them? I traded in my '06 for '08

Yes I have drove and witnessed several regens. That being said, lots of folks dont realize or know what to look for, idle should increase ~100 rpm, egts at the dpf can range from 800 to 1500( idling vs. driving) timing and turbo vane output are manipulated as well as extra fuel for the regen process. If the filter is not cleaned enough you will recieve a Clean exhaust filter message on the DIC.
Woodrow...what are you basing this on???? Please clear this up now and tell us you are a GM or Isuzu engineer....because the manual quite specifically says that regen CANNOT take place at idle....so how can rpm increase at idle??? And the turbo does not spin at idel does it????
I could be very ignorant, but i just am not tying in my experiences with your words....again....do you own an LMM?
Tony
You know what, just keep reading the manual. I'm done

During the regen process on the LMM ~2 gal. are consumed this includes the trucks demand for fuel as well..pretty close to just under a gallon solely for a regen is close

RE: '08 D/A...do you like them? I traded in my '06 for '08

the extra 5 hp and 10ftlb's of torque we a result of a more restrictive exhaust system DPF. the LBZ factory dyno numbers will show you that the LBZ will produce slightly higher rwhp and tq#'s.
Your rpm's will also change as you go into a regen mode which should be somewhat noticeable. Just some more Noticable DPF info..But once again, other than a few introduction bugs, they seem to have figured it out...Any high mileage DPF folks out there that can attest to maint, or reliability issues? Here is a TSB associated if interested. Remember also that 500ppm diesel is still available and used in AG applications for some, not an option on DPF equiiped rigs.

RE: FOLLOW-UP to Price to replace all fluids @ 30K

I just had mine done this summer to the tune of $545. That was the 30,000 mile service according to the owners manual. It hurt but I like my warranty in tact, so what do you do? I just sucked it up and wrote a check. Part that burned my but was that it had 31,000 miles on it when I bought it and when I brought it in for a normal service about 6 months later I was told it needed to be done. My question to them was why wasn't it done prior to being put on the lot? Oh well, still gives me a big grin to pull the 5vr with it and I have to spend my kids inheritance somehow!:B
DIY? less money..better fluid, confidence that it is done right...FUN,longevity,warranty.....Should i say more

RE: Whate does DPF stand for?

Actually DPF stands for
Dumb
Political
Foolishness
It is the junk forced upon all diesel owners/drivers by people who listened to people like algore and thought they were really smart. But in reality had no idea of what kinds of problems this sort of junk causes to our environment., our economy, or the lives of people who have to work on and maintain this equipment.
Precious.

RE: '08 D/A...do you like them? I traded in my '06 for '08

25,000 miles and one year old. More than half of that Towing a large 5th wheel. No mechanical problems....nada....zip. It is a dream to tow with. I would not know DPF was there if someone had not told me.
Does that answer the question????
Tony
Havent heard of many issues either..but some of us actually get underneath of our trucks once in a while... pretty easy to spot. Get to know your rig, as well as what people do with them and you will understand why a majority prefer non-dpf trucks. I bought mine when the LMM and LBZ were side by side, and that was a big seller for me..

RE: LT 245/75 R16 tire replacements on my GMC DA 2500

GM uses the same running gear on the 2500/3500 models dually or not, 265's are much less wear on the axles as well as a given factory capacity than a dually on the drivetrain. and as stated rims/ties are an option from the factory..never had a problem myself with 265+ sizes for huindreds of thousands of miles. Kinda like proving just cause you have a fifth wheel hitch you tow over the GCVWR...What would you expect a dealer to tell you? Most of the time they dont know the difference between a truck and a car. 17'' rims are available from the factory on 07+ truck as well...Different drivetrain NOPE.

Building a Lance 861

Looking at building a lance 861 from the factory through a local dealer here in WA. After all rebates looks to be ~29k fully loaded before T.L. any thoughts...we really like this model and am curious about the pricing..MSRP >40K. Seems reasonable for <$30k
